The final episode in our “Cholos: Where Are They Now?” series brings us to this guy, Franky Carrillo, who I met while walking down the street. He told me he liked my comedy and that he had watched me on Last Comic Standing… while he was in prison – wrongfully.
At age 17, mistakenly identified as a murderer, railroaded into life in prison and then 20 years later, Franky was released with the help of the Innocence Project. An unbelievable story of hope and perserverance in the face of an impossible situation and a young man who finally found his voice and remains positive to this day.
By the way, Rodrigo was missing from this episode because he lost his phone and we couldn’t get in touch with him. Go follow him on his social networks anyway.
Shoutout to my friend Juan Romero who let us do this recording at his coffee shop in Boyle Heights – Primera Taza Coffee House. Go visit them and get a chocomil.
