Our guest today is Paul Hunt, a guy who grew up in the same projects as me – Aliso Village in Boyle Heights. He was one of the few kids who dreamed of the world outside the projects and worked as hard as he could to get there. He recently wrote a book, “Project Theory” that describes our lives in these projects where there were about 10 gangs in a 2 square mile area, problems at home and at school, etc. Despite being a smart, athletically talented kid, his struggles are an example of what it’s like to fight an uphill battle every day and still question if it’s worth it.
